Terms of Service

The rules of the road, in plain language. Last updated November 2026.

1. Accepting these terms

2FA by DependsiT is operated by DependsiT. By using the site you accept these terms as written. If you disagree with any part, do not use the service. The terms may change as the service evolves; the current version always lives on this page, and material changes are announced on the site before they take effect.

2. What the service is

A web-based authenticator. It generates one-time password codes from secrets you provide, and it optionally stores those secrets in an end-to-end encrypted vault tied to an account. The guest tool on the homepage requires no account and stores nothing.

3. Accounts and your responsibility

You need an email address and a master password to open an account. The master password derives the encryption key for your vault, and it is never transmitted or stored in a form the operator can use. That means you alone can decrypt your vault. If you lose the master password, your stored data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. You accept this design by using the service. Keep an encrypted export if the data matters to you.

4. Acceptable use

Do not attack the service or its infrastructure, do not attempt to access other accounts, do not use the service to violate any law, and do not submit unlawful content through support channels. Accounts used for abuse can be disabled without notice.

5. Paid plans and payments

Paid plans (Yearly and Lifetime) lift the free tier's storage limits. Orders are submitted through the site, payment is arranged manually by email, and the plan activates on your account once payment is confirmed. Prices are in US dollars. If a paid plan does not work for you, contact support and a refund is arranged within reason. No card or payment details are stored on this site.

6. Availability and backups

The service is offered as is, without an availability guarantee. You are responsible for keeping encrypted exports of anything you cannot afford to lose. Scheduled maintenance is announced on the site when it is long enough to notice.

7. No warranty

The service is provided without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Cryptography is implemented carefully and reviewed, but no software is perfect, and this terms sheet does not promise perfection.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits, or lost data arising from use of the service. Where the law imposes a liability floor despite this clause, total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Closing your account

You can delete your account data at any time from the account page. Deletion removes your email, your stored ciphertext, and your sessions. There is no archive copy to recover.
